Nederburg Auction
A premier event on Cape Town’s wine calendar, the Nederburg Auction serves to showcase the spectrum of award-winning wines and rare Cape finds created by the country’s most talented winemakers.
Since its beginnings in 1975 with the 'famous five' founding participants; Delheim, Groot Constantia, Overgaauw, Simonsig and of course Nederburg, and an offering of just 15 wines, the Auction has evolved into an international event where major local and overseas wine buyers bid for a stringently selected range of the finest wines created by South Africa’s most talented winemakers.
Last year marked the 35th year of this prestigious event, which coincided with the celebration of 350 years of South African winemaking, and overall income fetched just over R4 million.

Elgin Heights
Situated in the lush garden vale of Elgin Valley, the natural home for lovers of fresh food, cool-climate wines and beautiful country living, the farm Elgin Heights was purchased by the Joubert family in 1966, and farmed as a deciduous fruit unit until 1999. Today the farm is called Smarag, which is the Afrikaans word for emerald, aptly referring to the beautiful green surroundings of the Elgin Valley that form a tapestry of orchards, vineyards and olive groves.
The cool climate of the Elgin Valley, the natural slopes of the farm, coupled with the maritime influence, make it the ideal location for the production of top quality wine grapes, evident in the elegant, full-bodied Sauvignon Blanc wines. Crisp and fresh, these boutique-style wines reflect the farms commitment to quality and offer the palate a melody of flavours that will linger long after the last drop.
