Since 1992 Stellenbosch Hospice has provided basic care in the homes of people with chronic or terminal illnesses. The small medical staff and lay health workers of this non-profit organisation support patients with chronic and terminal illnesses within the Stellenbosch Municipal district and the surrounding areas.
The staff and volunteers of Stellenbosch Hospice provide various services to the community. Their dedicated team of highly qualified nursing sisters and trained caregivers provide daily home based palliative and chronic support and care to 400 plus patients per day, who suffer mainly from Cancer, HIV/AIDS and TB.
In addition, their social workers provide patients and their families with psycho-social support to cope with the burden of disease, socio-economic problems and bereavement challenges.
