Social Responsibility

Since 1992 Stellenbosch Hospice has provided basic care in the homes of people with chronic or terminal illnesses. The small medical staff and lay health workers of this non-profit organisation support patients with chronic and terminal illnesses within the Stellenbosch Municipal district and the surrounding areas.

The staff and volunteers of Stellenbosch Hospice provide various services to the community. Their dedicated team of highly qualified nursing sisters and trained caregivers provide daily home based palliative and chronic support and care to 400 plus patients per day, who suffer mainly from Cancer, HIV/AIDS and TB.
In addition, their social workers provide patients and their families with psycho-social support to cope with the burden of disease, socio-economic problems and bereavement challenges.

What they say..

Thank you – astounding PR for our Hospice

I got home last night about 11.45 pm from my weekly Rotary meeting where everyone had been talking about the Hospice article they had seen in the Stellenbosch Gazette.

Rescuing my paper from the postbox in the blustery cold wind, I couldn't wait to open it and was immediately blown away by not one, not two but THREE references to our Hospice.
Such a great idea to choose the butterfly as front page , and for it to be followed by the article Elbe had written, based on the interview and then the poignant personal view of Elbe referring to the real work we do, was just the cherry on the top.

The new involvement and contacts of the last 24 hours are proof that your very excellent  PR is working extremely well: eg
I ) Today we have already had a new donor in ( we helped one of their family members ) to donate cash
2) We had an email from a local Hospital, who are keen to visit so they can work in partnership with us.
3) A church phoned to say they are coming in to bring their initial donation of blankets and they will be bringing more !

So, as I said the host of guardian angels continues, all inspired and informed by your excellent PR and Jacques Botha’s (thanks again to your contact) stunning photos, without all of which we would have had a nice lunch, spent time with some great people and only those of us eating together would have known what we were celebrating!

Thank you for being our PR guardian angels and touching the hearts of so many through the PR you set up, which I know will continue to ripple out across the community and  have many more positive repercussions.
