Stellenbosch Hospice continues to spread the 'Gees'

The 2010 Soccer World Cup tournament may already be a distant memory, but for the Stellenbosch Hospice the recent global event was an opportunity to continue the soccer vibe with their palliative and chronic care patients.

The Hospice 'kicked off' the new semester for their weekly day-care programme with a soccer theme – patients, staff and volunteers went all out, dressing up in their favourite soccer gear and enjoying a morning of post SWC 'footie fever'.

Marketing and PR manager Ingrid Martie says; "The Soccer World Cup created a real sense of unity amongst South Africans and we would like to continue to focus on the positive – it's a way of encouraging our palliative and chronic care patients to maintain an optimistic outlook in a fun and relevant way, which we believe has a positive influence on their emotional and thus physical health".
